You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Sort projects by title in dashboard

We can sort projects by date created, updated etc but would be very useful to be able to sort by title. I split long projects into numbered sections and would be useful to see them in that order.

  2. Support cleveref in Rich Text mode

When using the cleveref package, one makes references using \Cref and \cref instead of \ref. When viewing the latex source using these references, they are not rendered like they are with \ref. I think, \cref (and \Cref) in Rich Text mode both can be treated like \ref.

  4. Render the image with HTML5 and SVG instead of PDF or PNG

Please support HTML5 and SVG, that could help a lot to display real time when we do a change in the latex text instead of reder a PDF image.

  5. add a functionality for bookmarks.

I have a big project with very many files. It would be most useful if I could set some "bookmarks", with which I could switch to different places in different files very quickly, without having to click on the project tag, find the right file in the right folder, and then scroll to the right place, AND to then go back where I was.

  7. Add provision to share the project pdf only

It would be helpful if we can share the project pdf with others. No matter whatever the project type is (protected or not), if we can share the pdf through Overleaf, we will be able to share them in our website or somewhere else whenever needed. Right now we need to host the pdf somewhere else to share them with others.

  8. Count words in selected text

Most journals limit the amount of words in certain parts, for example abstracts. So it would be nice to be able to count the number of words in a selections.

  9. Show section numbers in rich text mode.

Show the (sub)section number in the richt text mode, e.g.: \subesction{Title} would display as '2.1 Title'

  10. Allow syncing with Zotero group libraries

My collegue and I are loving Overleaf, but we'd like to keep a combined library for each paper/project we use (and we'd like to avoid having to share our full Zotero library (which also cleans up the autocomplete for references)). The best solution for this is to have a Group Library with Zotero, but we can't add any library .bib files except one of our full library.

Integrating Overleaf with Mendeley has this Group library feature, but Mendeley has some downsides which make using it painful.

Thanks for the feedback! Now that we’ve done this with Mendeley, Zotero is next in line (but there are other things we will need to finish first). In the mean time, the best workaround I can offer is to use Mendeley or Citeulike.

  11. Shortcut to insert \item

A shortcut to quickly add '\item' at the beginning when create a new line, for example shift+enter.

  12. Replace image/file without having to delete the old one

It would be great if the dropdown of a file had the option of "replace by another file", or if files with the same name would automatically replace the old one.
    Thanks

  13. Allow hierarchical organisation of projects

Some projects involve multiple documents relying on some of the same source files - for instance a grant proposal involving several documents in the same style and with a shared bib file. It would be good to have a hiearchical organisation of projects and subprojects in both the projects view and the left bar.

  14. Commit the PDF along the files in GIT.

    Hello folks,

I would like OverLeaf to be able to commit the latest generated PDF along the files in the GIT commits.
    Is this conceivable?

  15. Fix: Keep directories open when refreshing Mendeley's .bib file

My .bib file is linked to my Mendeley account. Whenever I refresh the .bib file, all of the directories on the left-hand side of the project interface automatically close, and I'm redirected to my "main.tex" file where the .bib file is included.

I suggest that my folders remain open, and that I am not redirected from the document I'm currently editing at the time of pressing the refresh button. Thanks!

  17. inform the location of file from other project

Sometimes, I just don't remember which project has the original file corresponding to a link and have to look for it in all projects.

  18. Override ctrl+F for Vivaldi browser

Based on experience, I know that Overleaf will override the hotkey "ctrl+f" for text searching in the editor. However, recently I'm trying to use a new browser "Vivaldi", and it seems like Overleaf doesn't override the hotkey anymore. That means I have to click the "Find" bottom using my mouse. Can you fix this problem?

  19. Highlight the current line

Give an option to highlight the current line, i.e. the one where the cursor lies. This should also account for word wrapping, and not highlight the entire block.

  20. Compile latex image files separately

In my projects I use lots of tikz pictures that I create as standalone documents to compile separately. These figures are not updated often, reason why I just compile them as needed. I usually store these in a sub-directory, e.g. <project dir>/img/tikz.

I am aware that Overleaf allows to import PDF files from other projects, but this would force me to create dozens of projects, one for each image.

As far as I understand, there is no way to compile a single file inside a project, or is it? If not, I think this could be a useful feature.

    Best…
